1. Is it legal to download YouTube thumbnails?
Downloading thumbnails is generally fine for personal use or inspiration. However, the copyright of the image belongs to the video creator. Always ask for permission if you intend to reuse the image in your own commercial project or website.
2. The HD quality thumbnail isn't showing up. Why?
YouTube only generates HD thumbnails (maxresdefault.jpg) if the original video was uploaded in at least 720p resolution. For older or lower-resolution videos, the 'Maximum Quality' preview may be blank. In such cases, use the 'Standard' or 'High' quality options.
3. Can I download thumbnails from private videos?
No. Since this tool runs in your browser and doesn't require logging in to your YouTube account, it can only access public or unlisted videos. Private videos require authentication which we do not perform for your privacy.
